After knitting Assateague, I was hooked on short rows. And three colors!

The colors for this sweater were inspired by the purple, green, and gold of Mardi Gras celebrations in New Orleans, Louisiana. While the gold for this project is more gold than yellow and not a “true” Mardi Gras gold, enjoy the festive spirit with bright and lively colors for a lively holiday.

This sweater uses short rows to shape the lower half of the body. The bodice section is worked in one color, with a two-row pattern for broken rib. Susie M’s continguous sleeves makes a lovely fit for fitted sleeves to complement an A-line body. Short rows shape the A-line, alternating colors, incorproating increases to accentuate the A-line shape. The body finishes off with a border in the main color and the bodice pattern for broken rib.

As with my other patterns, you can use one, two, three, or many colors to make this pullover. This would be another lovely option for using up scraps of fingering weight yarn for the short rows.
